Help a Virginia Candidate Saturday

by

DC for DemocracyThe Virginia election will be upon us before you know it. Saturday our friends at DC for Democracy are giving you an opportunity to help the Democrats in Virginia by volunteering for Dave Marsden, a candidate for the House of Delegates.

Here’s the latest message from DC4D:

It’s time to send Republican ideologues a message.

If you are tired of watching the Republicans run roughshod over our democracy as they did this past Friday in the House of Representatives…

If you are tired of right-wing arrogance and disregard for the will of the American people…

If you are tired of the conservative pro-business, pro-billionaire agenda being shoved down our throats…

You don’t have to wait until 2006 to let them know that their days in power are numbered!

DC For Democracy has endorsed five candidates in Virginia’s House of Delegate races, one of the two state legislatures up for re-election this year. Significant progressive victories in these races will put the Republicans in Washington on notice: people are tired of their agenda.

We have an excellent opportunity to work for one of our candidates on October 15th.

Dave Marsden is running for an open seat in the 41st District. Dave is stronger supporter of quality education for all children, finding a dedicated source of funding to fix the region’s transportation challenges, and protecting a women’s right to choose. His opponent is a conservative ideologue that opposes providing education and healthcare to the innocent children of illegal immigrants.

Dave’s team has organized an excellent campaign and they are looking for our help to get ready for the last phase of the race. On Saturday the 15th, they are planning a test run of their GOTV procedures and huge day of voter contact. They would love to have a group of volunteers from DC join them on that day. They will be canvassing and calling from 12 until 6 and can run shuttles to and from the Metro all day. (So even if you can’t come out for the entire day, you can come out for a little while. Every bit of help would be extremely welcome.)

Sign up now! to join us on the 15th, and together we’ll send a loud and clear message to the ideologues undermining our democracy!

Save the Date
Can’t join us this weekend but want to do your part to help elect progressives in Virginia? And you want to socialize with other DC progressives while doing so? Join DC for Democracy at our Oktoberfest fundraiser — Friday, October 21st. We’ll be raising funds and signing up volunteers to help our Virginia candidates make their final push to election day.
